Why You Simply MUST Filter Your Water

Frank Lipman, M.D.
Water is a life-sustaining fluid that’s essential to health, but if you're drinking straight out of the tap, it can undermine your health. When you drink tap (or even spring) water, you’ll likely be getting more than you bargained for — chlorine, fluorine compounds, Trihalomethanes (THMs), assorted hormones, pesticides and even trace amounts of prescription drugs. It can be a witches’ brew of health-killing effluvia, but you can improve the odds.

Here’s the low-down on water, and how to turn it back into the health drink nature intended.........

Fluoride is a neurotoxin and is banned in most European countries...which explains the HazMat suits. Fluoride goes in our drinking water. But its safe, they tell us, just like vaccines.💦💉⚠️

USA - Fluoride spill at SAWS facility cleaned up

San Antonio Water System workers transferring fluoride at the utility’s North East Operations Center on Friday spilled about 4,100 gallons of the chemical, officials said.

The spill was caused by malfunctioning valves, SAWS spokeswoman Anne Hayden said.
“As a result, some of the fluoride was lost into the secondary containment area,” she said. “We have all sorts of protocol of how we manage fluoride and chlorine, the two biggest chemicals we work with.”

SAWS’ protocol includes calling in the San Antonio Fire Department’s hazardous materials team and notifying the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The spill occurred when SAWS employees were receiving a delivery of fluoride at the facility at 13655 O’Connor Road. No one was injured in the incident.
The cleanup was close to finished Friday afternoon, Hayden said.
SAWS doesn’t experience chemical spills often, she said, but staff trains for such incidents regularly.

'It's a little disheartening': Officials frustrated by efforts to halt fluoride treatment in Iowa town

Every few years, a small-but-mighty group of Iowans lobbies their city to stop adding fluoride to the public water.
Most recently, the city council for the northwest Iowa town of Ida Grove voted 3-2 to end the town's water fluoridation program, shortly after the majority of respondents to a survey — distributed through utility bills — voted to end the decades-old practice.
"As a scientist and public health professional, it's not the way I would conduct a survey," said Sara Carmichael-Stanley, the state water fluoridation coordinator at the Iowa Department of Public Safety, noting many people do not fully read their bills...............

Fluoride Exposure Induces Inhibition of Sodium/Iodide Symporter (NIS) Contributing to Impaired Iodine Absorption and Iodine Deficiency: Molecular Mechanisms of Inhibition and Implications for Public Health

Abstract

The sodium iodide symporter (NIS) is the plasma membrane glycoprotein that mediates active iodide transport in the thyroid and other tissues, such as the salivary, gastric mucosa, rectal mucosa, bronchial mucosa, placenta and mammary glands. In the thyroid, NIS mediates the uptake and accumulation of iodine and its activity is crucial for the development of the central nervous system and disease prevention. Since the discovery of NIS in 1996, research has further shown that NIS functionality and iodine transport is dependent on the activity of the sodium potassium activated adenosine 5′-triphosphatase pump (Na+, K+-ATPase). In this article, I review the molecular mechanisms by which F inhibits NIS expression and functionality which in turn contributes to impaired iodide absorption, diminished iodide-concentrating ability and iodine deficiency disorders. I discuss how NIS expression and activity is inhibited by thyroglobulin (Tg), tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), interleukin 6 (IL-6) and Interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and how fluoride upregulates expression and activity of these biomarkers. I further describe the crucial role of prolactin and megalin in regulation of NIS expression and iodine homeostasis and the effect of fluoride in down regulating prolactin and megalin expression. Among many other issues, I discuss the potential conflict between public health policies such as water fluoridation and its contribution to iodine deficiency, neurodevelopmental and pathological disorders. Further studies are warranted to examine these associations.

Aluminium in drinking water linked to Alzheimer’s, study of 7,000 Scots finds

Higher levels of aluminium and fluoride in drinking water are related to the onset of dementia, according to a ground-breaking study of thousands of Scots. Research by scientists at the University of Edinburgh to examine environmental factors that might cause dementia found that the people who lived in areas with higher levels of aluminium in the drinking water were more likely to die from the illness.
The study involved around 7,000 individuals born in 1921 who undertook an intelligence test in 1932 which was the forerunner of the historical 11-plus exam. A total of 1,972 out of 6,990 participants in the study had developed dementia by 2012. A north/south divide in Scotland in the quality of drinking water was also revealed, with the North East coming out worst and the Borders and South West coming out on top. Coagulants such as alum (aluminium sulphate) are used to trap impurities in raw water by binding them together to form particles before they are filtered out. Fluoride occurs naturally and is not added to the water supply in Scotland. Researchers say there is some evidence that it increases the human absorption of aluminium..............

House Republicans work to ban fluoride in public water

CONCORD — A group of Republican state representatives are hopeful this could be the year the Legislature bans the addition of fluoride in municipal water supplies.
On March 12, the House Resources, Recreation and Development Committee voted 16-3 to recommend passage of House Bill 192, sponsored by Republican Reps. Richard Marple of Hooksett and Raymond Howard of Alton. HB 192 would prohibit the introduction of fluoride in municipal water systems. The vote carries significance because since 2011 four bills banning the chemical’s use by cities and towns operating public water systems have been killed in committee by unanimous or near unanimous votes against them each time.
The bill has since been tabled this week, but Howard said he and his co-sponsor could pull the bill from the table and put it to a floor vote before the entire House at a later date.
“Fluoride is the only medicine we put in our water and people can get fluoride by other means,” Howard said Thursday. “There’s definitely momentum behind this.”
Proponents of continuing the practice point to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation to fluorinate water as a safe and cost-effective method of preventing tooth decay, especially among children from infancy to age 12. According to the American Dental Association, every dollar invested in water fluoridation saves $38 in dental treatment costs.
Dr. William McDowell, director of the University of New Hampshire’s N.H. Water Resources Research Center, said the sole purpose of adding fluoride to water is for the public’s dental health benefits. He said only high concentrations of fluoride would be harmful in the form of teeth discoloration. He added that a bigger concern is the fluoride concentration in private wells because there are no statutes requiring them to be tested.
“Excessively high concentrations, five times, 10 times the levels in public water would pose health issues,” McDowell said. “A lot is added to water whether it is to maintain pH levels, manage its hardness. If the Legislature decided it’s no longer needed to fluorinate water, it wouldn’t have any other effect (on public water) besides eliminating the dental health benefits.”
Supporters of eliminating fluoride in public water argue there are several consumer products, such as toothpaste with added fluoride, which adequately meet dental health needs of individuals and make fluorinating municipal water irrelevant or possibly even over-dosing individuals who use fluoride products and use fluorinated public water.
According to a 2015 report by the Cochrane Collaboration, cited in a 2016 “Harvard Public Health” article, researchers found early studies on the benefits on adding fluoride to public water were “deeply flawed” because many were done prior to 1975 and failed to account for the use of fluoride-containing toothpastes and other dental supplements designed to reduce cavities.
The Cochrane report compares countries with and without fluorinated public water, such as Canada, Germany, Japan, Sweden and Switzerland, and generally found the trend lines were virtually the same reflecting the average number of decayed, missing for filled teeth before an individual turned 12. From 1975 to 2012 the number in the United States dropped from an average of three teeth to one, while Switzerland experienced a similar decrease over the same time period.
Rep. Valerie Fraser, R-New Hampton, has co-sponsored several pieces of legislation to ban fluoride from public water in the past. She said fluoride is a main elemental component in a number of perfluorochemicals, such as PFOS, PFOA and PNFA; all found in large quantities in groundwater in some Seacoast communities and are suspected to be carcinogens.
″(Fluoride is not meant to be swallowed and ingested. It’s already in all the water contained in products like the juices we buy,” Fraser, who testified in favor of HB 192, said. “What I don’t understand is we’ve said we’re OK with having fluoride in our drinking water, but we’ve also said it’s not OK here because it’s considered a contaminant. These chemicals are all fluoride-based.”
Fraser said even though fluoride can only be added to a public water supply through local referendum, the issue raises a constitutional question of “forcing medicine” upon those who didn’t support the referendum in their community.
“Some residents don’t want it and they don’t have a choice,” she said. “Fluoride filters are expensive, and it places a burden on the individual. The petition process to get a new referendum on the ballot is pretty onerous in the big cities like Manchester, someone would need 2,000 or 2,500 signatures.”
According to the bill’s fiscal note, 10 municipalities including Dover, Durham, Greenland, Madbury, New Castle, Newington and Portsmouth all fluorinate their water supplies, at an annual cost of $1.75 per person for a population using public water of approximately 289,300 statewide, or an approximate annual cost of $506,275 divided proportionally by town based on population size. Though the fiscal note’s text also concedes the state Department of Health and Human Services would have no way of estimating any potential additional costs associated with hospitalization or medical treatment for tooth decay, and any increased costs from Medicaid associated with passage of the bill would be split between the general fund and federal funds.
John Storer, director of community services for Dover, said the city spends roughly $10,000 to $12,000 annually on fluoride chemicals alone. He said fluoride pumps and analyzing equipment cost another $8,000 to maintain and another $1,000 for water testing, annually.
Storer said he had no opinion on whether or not Dover should be adding fluoride to its water.
“We’ve had a couple inquiries asking how to get a referendum question on the ballot (to stop using fluoride),” Storer said. “If the state bans it, we’ll stop buying it. It’d be one less chemical for us to put in the water, so we’re waiting with curiosity.”

USA - Ida Grove halts treating water with fluoride amid concerns

IDA GROVE, Iowa (AP) — A small town in northwestern Iowa has ended its decades-long practice of treating the city’s drinking water with fluoride.

The Ida Grove City Council narrowly voted this week to halt fluoride treatment in the city’s water supply, the Sioux City Journal reported. The move comes after city leaders and residents questioned whether the fluoride was effective at preventing tooth decay or presented health risks.

A recent survey distributed through utility bills found that most respondents didn’t support fluoridation in the small city 60 miles (97 kilometers) east of Sioux City, according to the clerk’s office.

Many cities use the mineral in drinking water to promote dental health. A Hawaii lawmaker in January introduced legislation to add fluoride into that state’s public water systems, while a city in central Ohio considered whether to implement the practice last year.

The mineral fluoride is in water and soil, and scientists more than 70 years ago discovered that people whose drinking water naturally had more fluoride also had fewer cavities. But the practice has been debated across the country, and some opponents have argued that its health effects aren’t completely understood or that adding it amounts to unwanted medication.

Ida Grove, a city of roughly 2,000 residents, began the practice in 1971.

Councilman Doug Clough voted against the motion to end fluoride treatment. Clough said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hasn’t identified any health risks associated with the mineral in water systems.

Local public health officials, including the town’s Horn Memorial Hospital, also urged the council to continue the fluoride treatment.

Aluminium and fluoride in drinking water tied to dementia risk

According to a study published in the British Journal of Psychiatry, higher levels of aluminium and fluoride are associated with the risk for dementia in men and women who consumed relatively low drinking-water levels of both. Aluminium is widely used for reducing organic matter in water treatment and to improve other water parameters. Low fluoride levels in drinking water are beneficial for teeth but high levels are harmful, and both these substances are widely present in drinking water, although at levels considered acceptable.

Researchers used data from the Scottish Mental Survey, 1932 to investigate the association between mean aluminium and fluoride levels in drinking water (collected 2005-2012 by the Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland) with dementia in participants who were alive in 2005. Results showed that 1972 out of 6990 individuals developed dementia in 2012. The risk for dementia increased with rising mean aluminium levels in women (HR per standard deviation [SD] increase 1.09; 95% CI, 1.03-1.15; P<.001 and men ci p=".004)." researchers also found that higher mean fluoride levels in drinking water were associated with an increased risk for dementia per sd increase women a stepwise pattern. no statistical interaction was between aluminium relation dementia.>

“Our findings suggest that even these relatively low levels of aluminium and fluoride are associated with deleterious effects on dementia risk, which should be weighed against their beneficial uses,” the authors said.

“However, this is clearly an area which deserves further investigation, given the substantial and growing global public health impact of dementia,” they added.

I'm pleased now that I lost my teeth through too much sugar on margarine during the war and neglect at least my brain still works so far with no major memory loss. I seem to see more and more friends and family with  dementia.

Alberta Party makes pushing for fluoride in water part of its platform

Alberta Party Leader Stephen Mandel at his campaign headquarters in Edmonton on Tuesday. On Friday, Mandel unveiled the children’s dental health portion of his party’s platform at a news conference in Calgary.CALGARY—Alberta Party Leader Stephen Mandel waded into a long-running public health debate in Calgary on Friday by promising to push for water fluoridation if he becomes premier.

Mandel said if his party forms government in the spring election, it would work with municipalities that have a population above 10,000 people to help them find ways to make fluoride work. Mandel said he supports this practice as an effective preventative tool to improve oral health.

Mandel suggested this could be accomplished by providing more research on fluoridation or speaking with communities directly to educate Albertans on the health benefits. He also said his government could potentially help cities seek funding through Alberta Capital Finance to afford the cost of water fluoridation.

“We’re not here to dictate to municipalities, we’re here to encourage them. And if they so desire, we’d be glad to work with them in any way that we can,” Mandel said.

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that’s released into soil, water and air, but it’s routinely added to water supplies in many countries because of its ability to prevent tooth decay and cavities.

Water fluoridation has been a source of debate in Calgary for more than 60 years, and has been the topic of several public votes. After it was approved in two separate referendums in 1989 and 1998, Calgary city council voted to end the practice in 2011.

Sandy... Utah... this is why you don’t mess around with fluoride.
It’s dangerous... turn it off... and never turn it on again.

Call for more water fluoridation in Northumberland to prevent tooth decay

Northumberland has the highest rate in the North East of children under four being admitted to hospital for tooth decay, as well as the highest rate of general anaesthetics for this issue. The statistics for the county do reveal positives too; the 2017 Oral Health Survey shows that 77.4 per cent of five-year-olds in the county were free from obvious dental decay – higher than the England and regional averages and an increase from 61.2 per cent 10 years before. Five-year-olds in Northumberland also have an average of 0.64 teeth that are decayed, missing or filled, which is lower than the England average and in the lowest third of local authorities in the region. However, a similar survey of 12-year-olds identified that this value was 1.2, the highest number in the North East and significantly higher than the England average. Only 54.9 per cent of children this age were free from decay.

Fluoride Can Cause Degenerative Eye Diseases, Study Shows

NEW YORK, March 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluoride contributes to degenerative eye diseases such as cataracts, age related macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma, reports DT Waugh in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (March 2019), reports New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc. (NYSCOF).

Although research has consistently shown that it is the topical application of fluoride to teeth, not the ingestion of fluoride that reduces tooth decay, you cannot avoid consuming fluoride when it's added to public water supplies. Claims of safety from long term ingestion ignore hundreds of studies showing the potential for harm including to the eyes.

In this current study, Waugh identifies, for the first time, the key biological pathways and mechanisms by which fluoride contributes to degenerative eye diseases. He suggests minimizing fluoride exposure to reduce the occurrence or severity of AMD, cataracts and glaucoma.

"It's well known that excessive fluoride exposure is associated with dental fluorosis and musculoskeletal disorders that cause chronic pain," said Waugh.

"However, my study's goal was to gain insights into how fluoride may contribute to degenerative eyes, a finding also documented for decades. I show how fluoride ingestion renders eyes more susceptible to degeneration by identifying how fluoride fundamentally alters biological pathways and modifies the expression of genes, proteins and cytokines responsible for development of cataracts, glaucoma and AMD."

"Importantly, I also identify why diabetics, schizophrenics and people with Down syndrome are more susceptible to fluoride's toxic effects," says Waugh.

Furthermore, "Emerging evidence also suggests that the molecular mechanisms identified in this study not only contribute to eye diseases but may also contribute to increased risk of pulmonary diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer. Above all this research shows that one must look beyond teeth when examining how fluoride impacts on human health," says Waugh

"This study adds to the growing body of evidence that adding fluoride to drinking water may have unforeseen consequences and therefore must be stopped," says Waugh.

Fluoride Free NZ

Why Our Drinking Water Is Killing Us

"Water Fluoridation is the controlled addition of fluoride to a public water supply to reduce tooth decay", according to wikipedia.org. Fluoride happens to be the chemical compound that we find in our toothpaste, processed foods and in our public water supply. Fluoridation became an official policy of the U.S. Public Health Service in 1951 and by 1960, water fluoridation had became widely used in the United States, reaching about 50 million people. According Dr. Joseph Mercola, "If fluoride is really the panacea for dental disease that it's been portrayed as, then why is that the United States is one of the only developed countries that fluoridates their citizen's drinking water?" Dr. Mercola continues to say, "It's not because the other countries aren't aware of fluoride's supposed 'miracle' powers for your teeth..it's because they fully realize that adding a known poison to your population's water supply is probably not a good idea."

Dozens killed in shootings targeting New Zealand mosques
Obviously, fluoride isn't the beneficial product that citizens of the United States have been led to believe. Naturally, many people trust in their government and don't believe a chemical that is harmful to people would be distributed into the general population. However, it's one thing to be unaware of the poison you are putting into your body, but it's completely different to be aware of this poison and not take action. According to mercola.com, "Many assume consuming fluoride is only an issue that involves your dental health." But according to a 500 scientific page review, fluoride is an endocrine disruptor that can affect your bones, brain, thyroid gland, pineal gland and even your blood sugar levels.

So a chemical compound that was just intended to prevent tooth decay has many extremely harsh side effects. I remember when I was a kid, my mother always told me not to ever swallow toothpaste because I could get very sick. Back then, I didn't understand the consequences with consuming fluoride.

The Fluoride Action Network (FAN) reported: "Fluorosilicic acid is the most contaminated chemical added to public water supplies, and many impose additional risks to those presented by natural fluorides. These risks include a possible cancer hazard from the acid's elevated arsenic content and a possible neurotoxic hazard from the acid's ability -under some conditions -to increase the erosion of lead from old pipes." So fluorosilicic acid can certainly be labeled a great treat to humankind. Simply put, this chemical can lead to cancer and provides toxins to the brain. The question is, why is something so harmful still in our drinking water? Energyfanatics.com states, "Fluorisilic acid is a waste product of phosphate fertilizer industry and is heavily contaminated with toxins and heavy metals (including the cancerous arsenic, lead and cadmium) and radioactive materials. The website continues to state, "Dr.J. William Hirzy, EPA scientist, is reported to have said, 'If the stuff gets out into the air, it's a pollutant; If it gets into the river, it's a pollutant; if it gets into a lake, it's a pollutant; but if it goes right straight in your drinking water system, it's not a pollutant. That's amazing!'"

So a product that pollutes the bodies of water on earth and contains cancerous elements is allowed in our public drinking water. Water is essential for human survival and your body needs it to function properly. The body is made up of seventy percent water so the water you put in your body will basically determine your overall health.

"There have been over 34 human studies and 100 animal studies linking fluoride to brain damage," according to the Institute for Vibrant Living, including lower IQ in children. Studies have also shown that fluoride toxicity can lead to a wide variety of health problems including dementia, arthritis, bone fractures, increased tumor and cancer rate, disrupted immune system, bone cancer, genetic damage and so on. Cancer and arthritis are conditions that affect a good percentage of Americans on a daily basis. The fact that our drinking water contains elements that lead to cancer and countless other problems American citizens face on a daily basis is a disrespect to the integrity of people everywhere.

I see countless commercials regarding cancer research and the ongoing fight against cancer, but none of them ever mentioned that our drinking water contributes to the cancer our loved ones face everyday. I can imagine that the average person would never dream that the same water that's suppose to help them is slowing leading them to their own demise. It isn't easy information to swallow. Furthermore, if we wish to eradicate the diseases that plague our human condition, we have to stop putting harmful fluoride in our basic essentials of living. We all have the choice to take action, or do nothing. Fluoride is obviously a threat to human health and needs to be removed.

Fluoride Action Network: Dramatic increases in dental fluorosis point to widespread fluoride overexposure with risk of neurotoxicity

NEW YORK, March 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Researchers report a huge increase in dental fluorosis in the USA in a paperjust published in the Journal of Dental Research – Clinical & Translational Research.

Dental fluorosis is a tooth enamel defect caused by excessive fluoride intake during childhood. It appears as white spots or lines in milder cases and pitted and stained enamel in more severe cases. Analysis of the most recently available government data (NHANES 2011-2012 survey) found that 65% of American children now have some degree of dental fluorosis.

The survey found the objectionable degrees of dental fluorosis, termed "moderate" and "severe", in 30.4% of children age 12-15. This was an 8-fold increase from the previous national survey in 1999-2004 that found 3.7% affected.

Paul Connett PhD, director of Fluoride Action Network, noted: "This is compelling evidence that fluoride exposure, linked to lowered IQ in children, has skyrocketed. Fluorosis is a permanent marker of excessive early life exposure to fluoride. The US Public Health Service (PHS) has promoted fluoridation since the 1950s, but now must recognize fluoride exposure is out of control. The emerging evidence of harm to developing brains can no longer be dismissed."

According to lead author, Chris Neurath: "These extremely high rates are unprecedented and far beyond what were considered acceptable when water fluoridation was started 75 years ago."

"Although we were not able to determine what specific sources of fluoride caused these large increases in fluorosis, likely contributors include increases in water fluoridation, especially when used for mixing infant formula, and swallowed fluoride toothpaste."

"The PHS in 2015 recommended a reduction in the level of fluoride added to drinking water. This was a response to the increase in fluorosis between 1986-1987 and 1999-2004. The much larger increase in the 2011-2012 survey was apparently not considered. The PHS's reduction may be insufficient to reduce fluorosis to dentally acceptable levels and ignores the serious neurotoxic effects that may be occurring."

Neurath also noted: "The rear teeth were usually the most affected and it was their scores that determined the person-level scores. When we only considered the front teeth the 'moderate' & 'severe' rate was 10% instead of 30%. Many fluoridating countries only consider front teeth in their surveys (Canada, Australia, New Zealand) thereby underestimating true rates of fluorosis."

UK - Wiltshire has one of the worst rates for child tooth decay

hospital compared with the national average in England.
Latest figures suggest children under 10 had teeth removed in hospital 540 times between April 2017 and March 2018.
In 9 out of 10 cases the extractions were to remove rotted teeth by preventable decay - 480 in all.
That gives a rate of 739 such procedures per 100,000 population far higher than the average across England which is 425 per 100,000.
In Hampshire the picture is better with young children having teeth extracted 220 times giving a rate of 76 procedures per 10,000, one of the lowest in the country.
Across England, 32,000 under-11s had rotting teeth removed last year, and two out of five children were less than six years old.
The Royal College of Surgeons called the figures "horrifying", while health experts are urging parents to cut down their children's sugar intake.
Professor Michael Escudier, from the RCS, said:
"Tens of thousands of young children are having to go through the distressing experience of having their teeth removed under general anaesthetic for a problem that is 90% avoidable."
The British Dental Association also said the official numbers are likely to underestimate the true scale of the problem.

PLEA TO CUT SUGAR INTAKE:

Most children are consuming more than double the daily recommended sugar intake of five cubes, according to Public Health England, which can have a serious impact on oral health.
PHE dental lead, Dr Sandra White, advised parents to "make a swap when you next shop",replacing sugary drinks, yoghurts and breakfast cereals with low-sugar alternatives.
Brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and regularly visiting the dentist can also prevent tooth decay.
Dr White added:
"Small, consistent changes like these can have the biggest impact on children's teeth."
