Kids’ teeth losing out
By D_Blackhurst
A STOKE-on-Trent dentist has warned parents could be putting their children at risk of tooth decay by not taking advantage of free NHS fluoride varnish treatment.
Around a quarter of UK youngsters develop rotten teeth by the time they start school, making it the nation's most common childhood disease.
But fluoride varnish is a free NHS preventative treatment available to all children over three if they are clinically suitable.
The warning came from Jennifer Cooper, practice manager of mydentist in Hanley road, Sneyd Green. She said: "We are keen for families with young children to register with us so they can benefit from the varnish which is normally applied to children's teeth twice a year."
