DENNIS Edmondson's long list of ailments he claims are caused by fluoride ("Fluoride: It's a big scam!", Your say August 26) raises a question.
Why aren't people living in areas like parts of Northumberland and the Read-ing area of Berkshire, where fluoride has occured naturally at 1.25 to 1.5 parts per million since the year dot, and people living in areas where fluoride has been added for 40 years, suffering from the ailments he lists?

Surely if they were, modern medical science and screening would have detected them by now; but all it's come up with is healthier teeth.
David Sutherland

Calcium fluoride is the natural found fluoride in these areas and we all know calcium is good for us.

  • David Sutherland asks what sounds like a sensible question - ie why aren't people living in fluoridated areas suffering from the expected health problems?

Well well! At least he will be happy to know there is a sensible answer. Authorities that put the chemical in the water have never done any studies to find out what illnesses they are causing. This is the main reason for them not knowing about the side-effects.

Individual doctors and dentists in practice are commonly finding these fluoridation caused illnesses. Dr Bruce Spittle gives a comprehensive account of how people get sick from fluoridated water in his book "Fluoride Fatigue" (full text: http://www.pauapress.com/fluoride/files/1418.pdf )

Naturally fluoridated water has a less toxic form of fluoride (calcium fluoride) than the industrial waste form added to drinking water. Although it still causes injury to millions of people in India and China.

Government would have to be quite willing to harm their communities to ever put this chemical fluoride into Britain's drinking water. We will have to wait to see where British politicians' intentions lie.
