Fluoride will not change taste: Premier
Premier Bligh says other major urban centres around Australia have had fluoridated water for over 40 years without any evidence of health problemsQUEENSLAND Premier Anna Bligh says residents in the state's south-east will not notice the taste of fluoride, which was added to region’s water supply on 1 December.
The process began at the Molendinar treatment plant on the Gold Coast and other areas in the region will have fluoridated supplies by Christmas. Most of the state will have fluoride by 2012.
Bligh says it will take a few days for the substance to reach households, but there will be no difference in taste.
She says other major urban centres around Australia have had fluoridated water for over 40 years without any evidence of health problems.
The Australian Dental Association (ADA) says fluoridation will make Queenslanders’ teeth healthier. The organisation says there will probably be a demonstrable difference within about two years, based on results, such as decay, rates from other states.
The dentists say the benefits will be there for everyone in the state for the duration of their lives.

And disbenefits?
