Anti-fluoridation stance seen as helping secure council spot

An anti-fluoride campaigner elected to the Warrnambool council says ratepayers have shown their opposition to water fluoridation.
Peter Hulin lobbied against the fluoridation of Warrnambool's water supply and received a large amount of votes in the council election.
He says previous councillors did not believe water fluoridation was a serious issue.
Mr Hulin says he received a lot of votes because he took water fluoridation seriously.
"If you look at the fluoridation issue, not one councillor came to any of the meetings and when people went to the council offices they were basically treated with contempt at the meetings, so yes it's no wonder people look at me and say well there's a man who will represent us and I think that's all that people ever wanted," he said.
