UK - Schools invited to join free child dental initiative

An initiative that offers free dental checks to children in the classroom could be rolled out in more schools from September.
The Teeth Team has been visiting three Nottingham primary schools since September last year, teaching children how to effectively brush their teeth and applying fluoride varnish.
Staff from the charity, based in Hull, also organise local dentists to carry out dental assessments and send letters home to parents if they think there is a cause for concern.
The Teeth Team was invited to work in Southwark Primary School, Old Basford School and Whitemoor Academy by Nottingham North MP Graham Allen, who has concerns about the state of children's oral health.
He wants more children to benefit from the initiative and plans to personally call the rest of the primary schools in his constituency - 23 schools, excluding the three already linked to the Teeth Team - to offer them free access to the charity for a year. After then, his charity Rebalancing the Outer Estates will pick up most of the cost...
