Fear mongering about fluoride letter
Kathleen Krevetski (“Fluoride is a waste product,” Oct. 20) uses the old scare-’em-to-death hyperbole about fluoride in an attempt to divert us from the scientifically known benefits of fluoridated water. Oxygen is a waste product in the production of liquid nitrogen. Why doesn’t she point out also that when overused, oxygen can be just as toxic and corrosive as fluoride? Should we call for an end to the provision of bottles of oxygen to people with severe respiratory illnesses?
It is appalling that she would deny the benefits of fluoridation to infants in the most critical period of tooth formation — in the months before their baby teeth have appeared.......................
The waste product contains contaminants, it isn't pure. Babies get no benefits from fluoride and shouldn't be exposed to it. Any benefit is topical, applied to the teeth direct.
