Fiji - Ministry refutes media claims on fluoride
Ministry refutes media claims on fluoride
Wednesday, September 08, 2010
Negative articles and letters in the media about the dangers of adding fluoride in our waters have been refuted by the Ministry of Health.
Spokesperson Peni Namotu says they only add an acceptable amount of fluoride to the water and this is not a threat to people’s dental health.
The dosage we add into the water is 0.6 to one part per million - that is the amount we are putting in the water – and this has been proven medically and has been successful in the United States, in the UK, Australia and New-Zealand.
Namotu says the use of fluoride is one of the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century and is recommended by the World Health Organisation.
So I don’t think it is something we should be talking about and questioned about because it’s been medically proven and we assure the people of Fiji that it is safe and will help us now and in the future.
I know best syndrome.
