.............."It is very important that a child sees a dentist by the age of one, this is according to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Recommendations," said Dr Nimer Young. "I see a lot of kids two-years-old and younger that have a lot of cavities in their mouth and we need to avoid that problem by counseling the diet of the child and giving oral hygiene instructions to the parent. If there is anything that needs to be done, catch it early and get it over with."
For kids, tooth decay can be a real problem. It is the number one leading chronic disease. According to the 2000 U.S. Surgeon General's Report, it is five times more common than asthma. Tooth decay is still the major cause of tooth loss in children.
"It is caused by bacteria in the mouth. It does not go away. Once it starts in the mouth, it grows like wildfire, so you really have to catch it early," said Dr. Nimer Young.
Almost half of children have cavities in baby teeth by the time they are seven years old. Those problems infect the adult teeth coming in. Half of U.S. school children today have decay in their permanent teeth.....................

Caring for your teeth early is a very beneficial decision. I agree that cavities must be stopped at an early age to prevent future teeth problems.
Like most parents today who prioritize dental health care, I took my 3 year-old son to the (Savannah) dentists to have his teeth inspected. I'm quite worried about them because I've read that thumb sucking can affect their alignment. Fortunately, the dentists (Savannah) said that his teeth are still in good shape. He will be examining them again next year to know if treatment shall be required.
I suggest other parents to regularly take their children to a dental clinic to keep track of their dental development.
