To The Editor: The paper reported on toxic volcanic ash from the Iceland volcano. "The ash is toxic — the fluoride causes long-term bone damage that makes teeth fall out and bones break." No kidding!
Well, your Health Department and commissioners blindly follow the myth that fluoride is good for your teeth. This is a myth perpetrated by the sellers of toxic wastes from Florida fertilizer plants where the state forbids the dumping of these wastes on Florida land, so they sell it where they can.
Warnings on fluoride-laced toothpaste boxes state: "If more than used for brushing is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away." So if it's safe, why is this warning on all toothpaste boxes?
Time to wake up, folks, and tell your commissioners to get this poison out of our water supply. This will also save the $30,000 a year plus labor it costs to buy this poison for your drinking water. Brevard has done it. Why not Hendersonville?
