Broadly speaking, they want a relationship so they can make their case on a host of issues. The American Dental Association spent $2.9 million last year lobbying Congress, the White House and federal health agencies, according to reports the association and its outside lobbyists filed with the clerk of the Senate. Its PAC gave $362,500 in contributions to political candidates in just the first three months of this year.
The dentists lobby for many things, including more money for dental education. They want to keep fluoride in drinking water and mercury in dental fillings..........
