I don't like talking to my dentists. It's not that they are bad or uninteresting people. It's just that I can't really keep up my end of the conversation with a pair of latex-covered hands in my mouth waving around sharp, stainless-steel tools and a suction hose. After my last appointment, and a very one-sided conversation about infectious diseases, my dentist handed me a photocopied article about a woman's bad teeth and the resulting death of her newborn baby......................
