COUNCILLORS in Burnley will next week discuss a bid by a thinktank to convince health chiefs to put fluoride in tap water.
The North West Fluoridation Evaluation Group wants all 24 primary care trusts (PCTs) in the North West to add fluoride to water.
The group claims the potential £102million move would vastly improve East Lancashire’s dire tooth decay record.
On Tuesday, members of Burnley Council’s leadership and community scrutiny committee will debate the possible impact of the move on the borough’s residents.
In the past, plans to put fluoride in water have split health experts, with some claiming it would damage teeth.
