CDC specialist to speak on fluoride
An oral health specialist with the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is scheduled to address the Fairbanks City Council today regarding the health implications of fluoride in drinking water.
Councilwoman Vivian Stiver has proposed a measure that, if approved, would halt the 48-year-old city practice of supplementing public water with fluoride compounds.
The ordinance could come up for a council vote as early as Monday.
Today’s work session with CDC specialist William Bailey will be at Fairbanks City Hall at noon.
The work session was arranged following a request from the Alaska Dental Society, city chief of staff Pat Cole said.
