A new group has called a community meeting to vote on whether the water supply in Mount Gambier, in the south-east of South Australia, should be fluoridated.
Choice Mount Gambier will hold the meeting miin the middle of November and has invited speakers both for and against adding fluoride.
The State Government says fluoridation will go ahead to reduce tooth decay and residents were consulted through workshops on the state's dental plan.
But Choice spokesman Alex Young says he does not believe the community is well informed or has been given a choice.
"Did our State Government at their own organised meeting ensure that a balanced viewpoint was present by inviting speakers both for and against water fluoridation?" he said.
"No, obviously not. So no balanced viewpoint was offered at that meeting."
