Since a rain barrel was installed at her house this summer, retired teacher Rita Reffner has used it to water her garden and trees and has even washed her hair using some of the water collected.
She's also saved 15 containers of rainwater in the basement that she'll use to water her houseplants this winter.
"Plants love it more than water from the faucet," Reffner said. The water is softer and doesn't contain fluoride, she noted............................
