UK Against Fluoridation

Thursday, November 02, 2006

Good letter from Gary in the The Argus.

Testing the water
Dr Boyask's "dental parable" (Letters, October 17) aiming to make his pro-water fluoridation message "sink in one day" is arrogant, sarcastic, incorrect and hypocritical.
Comparing a steel chair rusting due to rain to the effects of poor dental care and sweets ignores the fact proper dental care education is much cheaper than water fluoridation and, by tackling diet, also helps prevent other conditions such as diabetes and skeletal diseases.
Previous responses to Dr Boyask have stated that as compulsory medication, water fluoridation is illegal, a serious violation of core medical ethics and not the legitimate business or right of water companies.
They have also said the fluoride which many health authorities are now hell bent on dumping in our water converts what is toxic, contaminated industrial waste and a registered, banned poison in the UK - which has never been officially safety tested - from financial liability into profit for the companies producing it.
People wanting to avoid washing, bathing, drinking and cooking with this toxic cocktail will either have to buy bottled water or an expensive reverse osmosis system, yet still be legally required to pay their full water bills.
Not only did the Government's 2000 York Review of the evidence on water fluoridation estimate 48 per cent of people in existing fluoridated areas to suffer from dental fluorosis - a condition recognised by scientists worldwide as the first visible sign of chronic fluoride poisoning - but 40,000 independent studies show little or no dental benefits and a list of adverse health effects, including huge increases in cancer, and thyroid, skeletal, brain, neurological and blood sugar disorders.
