Child in England has rotten tooth removed 'every ten minutes'

PARENTS in East Lancashire have been warned to cut down on giving their children sugary drinks to prevent tooth decay.

The warning comes as data shows a child in England has a tooth removed in hospital every 10 minutes due to preventable tooth decay.

Sugar drinks including juice drinks, energy drinks and cola are one of the main sources of sugar in children's diets and consuming too much sugar is one of the leading causes of tooth decay and childhood obesity.

Dr Sandra White, dental lead for Public Health England, said: "It’s upsetting to see so many children admitted to hospital with tooth decay, but swapping out sugary drinks could be an easy win for busy families."

One comment.

Rubbish. Sugar consumption has been declining for years and childrens teeth are the healthiest they've ever been.
Children are having teeth removed more in hospital, because the government said dentists were no longer allowed to do general anasthetics themselves.
This is just junk stats made up to justify public health industry salaries. We should take the four billion of taxpayers money spent on Public Health England, and spend it on direct patient care instead.

That's true.
