USA - Parsons receives grant to bring back flouridation

Parsons (KS)- Parsons receives a $35 thousand dollar grant to bring fluoridation back to the water treatment center.

The city stopped the process of adding fluoride to the water a few years ago after old pipes started to corrode. Once those issues were fixed, the additive was never re-introduced into the system.

The $35 thousand dollar grant is being provided by the National Association of County and City Health officials after the application was accepted. Parsons is now looking into more funding for the rest of the project.

"That's not going to cover all the costs, so right now staff is preparing a budget to show what the whole cost would be. That will go in front of the city commission here in the next couple of weeks,” says Jim Zaleski, City of Parsons.

The next city commissioners meeting will be held Thursday, December 28th.
