Four in five toddlers did not see a dentist in the last 12 months, alarming figures reveal. Soaring numbers of kids are having teeth extracted because of shocking dental health.

New figures collated by the Faculty of Dental Surgery (FDS) at the Royal College of Surgeonsshowed that 80% of one- to two-year-olds in England did not visit an NHS dentist in the year to March 31, 2017.

This is despite the fact that NHS dental care for children is free.

The figures also show that 60% of children aged one to four did not have a dental check-up in the same period, the RCS said.............
