The Fluoride-Hypothyroidism Connection
Fluoride in water is supposed to protect the public health and it’s a good thing, right? Well, it’s time to revisit this assumption.  A study published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, a British Medical Journal (BMJ) publication, found that fluoride exposure should be considered a contributing factor to hypothyroidism. The study examines the association between levels of fluoride in the water supply with the prevalence of hypothyroidism in that area. The study found that people living in a wholly fluoridated area are nearly twice as likely to report high hypothyroidism prevalence in comparison to a non-fluoridated area.  “The findings of the study raise particular concerns about the validity of community fluoridation as a safe public health measure.”
What is Fluoride?
Fluorine is a chemical element belonging to the class of halogens, which includes chlorine, bromine and iodine. Fluoride is the negative ion of fluorineFluoride acts as a poison in the human body and inhibits the activity of enzymes necessary for the production of thyroid hormones. Fluoride has adverse effects on the immune system and triggers autoimmune disease, including autoimmune thyroiditis, also known as Hashimoto’s, as well as many other health problems.
Here Are 15 Reasons to Avoid Fluoride in Water:
1) It poisons the enzymes in the thyroid gland that produce thyroid hormones.
2) It adversely affects the thyroid hormone receptors on all the body’s cells, preventing the  adequate uptake of thyroid hormones.
3) It inhibits the production of TSH from the pituitary gland.
4) It displaces iodine which is essential for producing thyroid hormones.
5) It can cause brittle bones.
6) It can cause arthritis.
7) It increases risk of bone cancer.
8) It can cause impaired fetal development.
9) It increases infertility  and damages sperm.
10) It can cause damage to the brain.
11) It causes brittle teeth and teeth discoloration.
12) It can cause cardiovascular disease.
13) It can cause dementia.
14) It can cause type 2 diabetes.
15) Is a mutagen that causes genetic damage.
Sources of Fluoride
