The Head of Dentistry at James Cook University, Professor Neil Meredith, wants to see fluoride reintroduced to the Cairns water supply.
THE head of dentistry at James Cook University has predicted the number of children with decayed, missing and filled teeth would increase by up to 25 per cent over the next five years if fluoride was not added to the Cairns water supply.
Professor Neil Meredith has written to Cairns Regional councillors to lobby for the reintroduction of fluoride, which was raised in a council meeting by Division 5 councillor Richie Bates last month....

“There’s no doubt we will see an increase in decay, missing and filled teeth in children,” Prof Meredith said.
“Just by how much is hard to say, but based on other studies it would be between 5 to 25 per cent, but it could even be higher.”

Not very scientific.
