UK - Hull named as one of the worst for tooth decay in young children

Published: Wednesday 9th September 2015 by KCFMdentistBut rather than adding fluoride to the water, campaigners say brushing teeth and a good balanced diet is the easiest solution.
Hull’s been named as one of the worst places in the country for tooth decay in children under five.
However, protesters against adding fluoride to the city’s drinking water are still opposing the idea, despite the possible health benefits.
Martin Deane from Hull and East Yorkshire Green Party says: “Regularly brushing your teeth is the easiest solution and of course there is fluoride in the toothpaste.
“Having a good balanced, varied diet and keeping sugar to a minimum is very important.”
Mr Deane also questions statistics which state 15.4 per cent of Hull three year olds have got poor teeth.
He says: “The trouble is there is about 3,500 three year olds and in that study there are only 66 looked at.
“So it’s a small sample and it’s too small to be statistically significant.”

  • These kind of scare tactics are part and parcel of the fluoridation band wagon, no real focus on the actual cause of tooth decay just the usual one dose cures all mantra...A blinkered health authority is more dangerous than the fluoride it pushes...I hope the people of Hull have done there homework and can see through the BS
