Dr. Connett’s presentation on fluoridation given to the Environment Committee was from an environmental impact perspective. Dr. Connett started with the history of the phosphate industry polluting the environment with its hazardous fluoride wastes. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) required wet-scrubbers be installed in the smokestacks to prevent this waste from being expelled into the surroundings. When this fluoride waste is sold, it becomes a “product” and is no longer under EPA legislation. It can be used in anyway the purchaser desires, even in our drinking water. What a bizarre recycling practice!
