GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, MI -- A chemical accident at the Grand Rapids water filtration plant caused a scare, but no one was injured and the water is safe, fire officials say.
About 800 gallons of fluoride was accidentally mixed with 250 gallons of hypochlorite in a tank at about 8:15 a.m. at the plant on Lake Michigan Drive at Lakeshore Drive.
