Frank Zappa once wrote a tune called, "Dental Hygiene Dilemma." The song may have been intentionally tongue-in-cheek, but the poor oral health of millions of Americans isn't very funny. According to the Weston A. Price Foundation, "95 percent of the civilized population suffers with tooth decay and/or periodontal disease." Which might sound pretty shocking — until you count yourself among this group.

I first began noticing subtle dental enamel erosion close to twenty years ago. Perplexed, I asked my dentist what could be causing it. All he had to offer was, "I don't know; are you sucking on lemons?" Clearly, excess acid was the culprit, but where did it originate? I ate a healthy diet, was modest in my consumption of sweets, and brushed at least twice a day. I even saw my dentist for biannual check-ups and cleanings. I was the poster girl for smart dental care.

Who knew that the very substances I was using to clean my teeth — tap water and toothpaste — were actually creating the problem?

Fluoride, present in all U.S. tap water by government decree since 1945, is a biological poison. It destroys 83 enzymes in the body and detaches gum tissue, which leads to gum pockets necessitating surgery, according to Dr. Gerard Judd, author of Good Teeth, Birth to Death.......
