Breaking: Arkansas House Passes Fluoride Bill
Times Record Staff
Arkansas state representatives voted 56-35 this afternoon in favor of a bill requiring fluoride added to public drinking water.
Senate Bill 359 requires water systems in Arkansas serving 5,000 or more people to add fluoride to public drinking water.
The House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee endorsed the bill Tuesday.
The bill will impact Fort Smith, currently the largest city in Arkansas that does not fluoridate its water. Fort Smith voters turned down fluoridation in the 1970s and in 1992.
