UK - Cumbria - Cocktail is not welcome

Cocktail is not welcome

DAVE Berry, water treatment manager for North United Utilities, was recently strident in his defence of the drinking water quality in Cumbria.
"We [Cumbria] have some of the country’s best raw water... and no-one can deny that the water we drink is right up there with the best.”
Well, we certainly do have good raw water but that is very different from the water that enters the homes of west Cumbrians.

For decades United Utilities and previously North West Water have ignored representations and objections from the many customers who object to having phosphorous pentoxide, iron, cadmium, nickel, aluminium, copper, lead, chromium, arsenic, antimony, vanadium, beryllium and mercury added to their drinking water. This cocktail comes as a consequence of obtaining the heaxfluorosilic acid they use for water fluoridation as a byproduct from the fertiliser industry.

If United Utilities were truly passionate about the quality of the water they supply they would not be participating in the introduction of an inadequately researched, untested chemical in drinking water.

West Cumbria has been fluoridated for many years. Many other areas of the county will receive fluoride if Cumbria PCT pursues its desire to extend its use.

  • Very true indeed.. And a worrying state of affairs.

It isn't the citizens who are benefiting from the flouridation schemes..
