Australia - Anti-fluoridation woman speaks out

Anti-fluoridation woman speaks out
For Jan Sharrock the fast-approaching deadline (no pun intended) for fluoridated water in Cairns has her Queenslanders Against Water Fluoridation group marshalling masses to revolt.
Jan at 29, was fit and healthy when she moved to Townsville in 1971 to enjoy a tropical lifestyle.
Instead, exhaustion, allergies, digestive problems and depression made her terribly ill and on medical advice she was treated for an under-active thyroid gland.
She believes Townsville’s fluoridated water created the problem.
“In 1989 I moved to Cairns and my health and energy level improved markedly,” Jan said,” for which I give a lot of the credit to the clean un-fluoridated water of the city.
“I learned that fluoride reduces the function of the thyroid gland of everyone who swallows the poison on a daily basis over a number of years.”
Dentists, lobbying for 50 years for all Queenslanders to have fluoridated water and not merely the 5 per cent that have had access to it, will argue otherwise.
But Jan said it is not whether one was for or against fluoride.
“Freedom of choice is the issue,” she said. “I’ve been holding public meetings in Cairns because I felt this city shouldn’t accept a government mandate to fluoridate our drinking water without community involvement in the decision-making process.”
Following the meeting, Mayor Val Schier wrote to the Department of Health requesting them to review their decision following the concern of constituents over perceived mass medication.
QAWF in Brishane is considering class action and the anti-fluoride petitions are mounting.
“To condemn an entire population to inevitable failure of their thyroid system by fluoridating the water, borders on criminal insanity,” Jan said. Go to www.qawf.org to voice your concern.
