Vietnam - 50 primary school students suffer fluoride poisoning

50 primary school students suffer fluoride poisoning
About 50 pupils in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau were rushed to Long Dien District hospital for emergency care Friday morning for fluoride poisoning.
The pupils of Tam Phuoc Primary School in the district’s Tam Phuoc Commune complained of exhaustion, dizziness, headache and difficulty in breathing. Some were in more serious condition and had to receive intensive care. Doctors used respirators to help them breathe.
Fluoride poisoning was initially identified as the cause of the symptoms.
The school mixed fluoride with water for the pupils to wash their mouths to protect their teeth under a program to promote dental care at school.
