The State Government says all south-east Queenslanders will be drinking fluoridated water by the end of the month.The process to add fluoride to drinking supplies began today with the inspection and testing of equipment.The Dental Association predicts the state's tooth decay rates will start to decline within five years.Health Minister Stephen Robertson says any concerns about the safety of fluoride are unfounded."There is a rigorous regime that will be put in place for daily testing of fluoridated water that will be independently assessed both in terms of content and in terms of quality," he said.
