Houston Health Department Providing Dental Care to Students

When was the last time you had your teeth cleaned?
The troubled economy is leaving so many people strapped for cash, that some are 'blowing off' visiting the dentist to take care of other matters. That is not a good idea, especially for children.
The Houston Department of Health and Human Services is stepping in to prevent this trend. It has launched Project Saving Smiles.
As part of the program, thousands of second graders are getting free dental examinations. This age group was chosen because, according to department specialists, 47 percent of Houston-area second graders have tooth decay.
