Fluoride debate: What’s your opinion?

The Border Watch this week reported the comments of Mount Gambier dentist Dr Ian Ridley, who said the benefits of adding fluoride to Blue Lake water would become evident in the next few years.
Dr Ridley said the lack of fluoride in drinking water had a detrimental effect on the dental health of both children and adults.
Meanwhile, Australian Protectionist Party national chairman and South Australian spokesman Andrew Phillips has criticised adding fluoride to drinking water.
“Considering there is documented proof that the side effects of fluoridation include asthma, arthritis, gastric disorders, fluorosis in teeth-particularly in one third of young children, skin rashes and thyroid dysfunction, surely the residents of Mount Gambier and the community at large have a right to have their concerns heard,” he said.
Mr Phillips posted a comment in The Border Watch forum.
