USA - Wrong to subject us to fluoride

Count me among those who look upon fluoridation of Aspen’s water supply as mass medication. Never have I seen an issue more filled with hubris from dentists and medical practitioners. “See how good we are,” they constantly intone. As one doctor proclaimed in these pages, fluoride builds in the teeth and bones throughout life, as if this is a good thing. Yes, it’s good until one gets old, when all that fluoride causes bones to become weak and brittle. But, hey, it keeps our kids from the pain of the dentist chair. So what if grandpa breaks his hip? He only had a few more years to live anyway.

Involuntary fluoride usage is wrong. It is wrong to subject a significant minority of people to this “medicine.”

Unintended consequences: The latest involves folic acid. It’s great, and by congressional mandate it is added to enriched white flour. It is proven to reduce the incidence of spinal bifida in babies. Now it’s coming out that men with the most of it in their system have a much higher incidence of prostate cancer. Even doctors now are urging caution for men. But hey, what’s cancer when you’re older? You had a good life. There are babies born with no life.

We’re playing a game of Russian roulette with all our lives. Keep life pure and simple. Get rid of the fluoride in Aspen’s water.
