We are paying for corrosion in pipes and pumps that is caused by corrosive fluoride.
The MWRA is spending $5 million to $10 million, you are paying in your water and sewer bills, this year to replace corroded water valves in Malden and Chelsea pumping stations and for replacement of digester glass tubing at the Deer Island Sewage Treatment Plant. The tubing has become etched by corrosive residuals of fluoride along with other acids in standing sludge.
Know that fluoride is commonly used commercially in the manufacture of etched glass.Think irritable bowel syndrome? You bet.
