Dental group sees fluoridation benefits for seniors

The Gold Coast-based vice-president of the Australian Dental Association of Queensland says it is not just children's teeth which will benefit from fluoridated water.
Dr John Wills has welcomed the Queensland Government's decision to fluoridate the state's water supplies.
He says the decision will also benefit the teeth of Queensland's senior citizens.
"You get a degree of gum recession which exposes a lot more of the root surface of the tooth, now the root surface of the tooth is far more susceptible to decay than the enamel that you normally see on the crown part of the tooth, so as you get older, combined with certain physiological changes which occur during ageing, those teeth become more susceptible to decay," he said.
And under every rainbow there is a pot of gold
