UK - Added comments to York promoted debate
Yet more evidence of the dictatorial nature of this draconian government. We, the public should have a choice as to whether we want to be "poisoned" by fluoride, not have it poured down our throat against our wishes.
Another example of this government riding roughshod over the public!
It is not worth the potential health risks, surely it is better to make sure that childern clean their teeth! Quote | Report this postPosted by: oli4uk, York on 10:08am Thu 11 Oct 07
"So, if there are any doubts about the adverse effects of this medication, it should not be given to the whole nation. People should be able to choose." I like the way he is promoting choice, shame he didnt take the same stance on foie gras, There he tried to dictate to the whole city AND nation that we shouldn't eat a type of food.

If the government provided free preventative dental care for children that would cut down rates of tooth decay

After 60 years of water fluoridation in the US, tooth decay is on the rise and up to 50% of school children sport fluoride overdosed teeth - white spotted, yellow, brown and/or pitted teeth. Fluoridation has hardly put dentists out of work as they once predicted. The NY Times reports today, "With dentists’ fees rising far faster than inflation and more than 100 million people lacking dental insurance, the percentage of Americans with untreated cavities began rising this decade, reversing a half-century trend of improvement in dental health."

My sister and I were given flouride drops when we were young by our Mum. We're now 25 and 30, neither of us has ever had a filling, and my dentist told me to only go for a check up yearly as there was no point going every six months. Not trying to show off or be clever, I just don't think they can be that bad!
