Protest to rally fluoride critics

THE region's anti-fluoride movement is growing, with a public rally in Geelong later this month expected to call for a state referendum.
Organisers hope Warrnambool's fluoride opponents will add their voices to the protest and join a wider delegation to lobby the State Government.
Fluoridation of Geelong's water supply was announced last month, following the decision to add it to Warrnambool's public water in July.
Geelong has opposed repeated attempts by governments of both political persuasions, with unions even blocking works in the 1980s.
The rally will be at the Geelong West Town Hall on September 27.
It will discuss a motion calling for a Victorian referendum on fluoridation.
The Warrnambool Fluoride Action Group has asked the Federal Government to intervene in the issue and allow Warrnambool, Koroit and Allansford residents to decide on whether fluoride is added to their water.
