USA - No end to Mount Desert fluoride debate
.....................Now age 93, Dr. Young said he’s a bit foggy on the dates, but that he arrived in Bar Harbor in the 1950s after serving in the army and attending dental school at Harvard University. He opened an office on the corner of Main and Cottage streets; one day, a nurse came to him and told him that many of the schoolchildren had bad teeth, so he decided to do a survey, looking at the mouths of hundreds of kids. He was not pleased with his findings..........

"Unfortunately, while Dr. Young means well, he is basing his opinion on anecdotal evidence and outdated science. I doubt he has read the current evidence that tooth decay crises are occurring in fluoridated areas. See: FluorideNews. Today's children are dentist-deficient and fluoride overdosed. 80% of dentists refuse to treat low-income patients who have the most cavities. So they filter out the very individuals with lots of rot regardless of water fluoridation. So what they are seeing is not a representation of what's occurring in the whole population. I doubt Dr. Young knows that all fluoridation chemicals are derived from phosphate fertilizer manufacturing left-overs. This residue is allowed to be dumped into drinking water unpurified and is allowed to contain trace amounts of lead, arsenic and 9 other toxins. No one should be adding lead and arsenic into water supplies no matter how low the dose. Actually, what Dr. Young doesn't know won't hurt him; but will hurt many people in Maine. Just because he's a dentist doesn't mean he's a fluoride expert or that he's kept up to date on current fluoride literature which clearly links fluoridation to adverse health effects in some people. See: FluorideActionThis article should have been more balanced by interviewing a scientist who has actually done fluoride research."
