Stuart to revisit fluoride proposal
By JEREMY ASHTON jeremy.ashton@scripps.com January 4, 2007STUART— Anti-fluoride activists are taking their fight to City Hall, but a victory could cost the city more than $59,000.
The City Commission will hear an update Monday on Stuart's program to add fluoride to the city's drinking water to promote dental health. The program has been on hold since late October.
If the commission follows Martin County's lead — county commissioners voted 3-2 on Dec. 19 to scrap their program because of concerns about potential side effects — the city would have to repay a state Department of Health grant.
