Alaska - in front

And finally, fluoridation is back in the news.
Texarkana has always been viewed somewhat strangely in some circles for its resistance to adding fluoride to its public water system. But since the National Research Council report came out in March, which raised new health concerns, a few new places have joined the resistance.
Juneau, the capital of Alaska, voted to stop fluoridating their water, as did Martin County, Fla.
The Vermont Department of Health sent out fluoridation warnings to all pediatricians and dentists in the state. And a Tennessee physician and state legislator, Dr. Joey Hensley, urged water departments in the state to stop fluoridation, and at least one city will stop next month.
This, of course, isn’t a massisve turnaround. Our country’s public water is largely fluoridated, particularly in population centers. But neither is Texarkana as alone as it used to be. Indeed, some might suggest we were alone only because we were way out in front.
