This could be one of the reasons why the DHSC loves Water Fluoridation.  It's highly disturbing. Fluoride, antibiotics & alcohol are all bactericides ... Joy Warren.

Avoid fluoride toothpastes – an urgent new rule for health

New scientific data reveals that fluoride toothpastes disrupt the microbiome living in the mouth as a result, derail the production of vitally important nitric oxide in the stomach. Friendly bacteria that should be living in the crypts (little crevices) in the tongue get wiped out by fluoride in toothpastes, chlorhexadine mouth rinses, & antiseptic mouthwashes containing alcohol.  As a result they cannot perform their crucial job of converting nitrate, found in green leafy vegetables & some other vegetables & fruits, into nitrite, which is then normally swallowed with saliva & food, & gets converted into the all-important nitric oxide molecule.

The lowering of nitric oxide production in the stomach tends to produce a lack of nitric oxide in many parts of the body, leaving some people trapped in a vicious cycle of high blood pressure, diabetes, impaired blood flow to the heart, kidneys & other vital organs. "Nitric oxide is one of the most important molecules in the human body," a leading researcher, Nathan S. Bryan, PhD, declares. "It controls & regulates most cellular functions." Bryan, an American & a world leader in the research on nitric oxides, adds that "Loss of nitric oxide is the earliest event in the onset & progression of most, if not all, chronic diseases."

In his 2018 book Functional Nitric Oxide Nutrition, Nathan Bryan explains how widespread the deficiency becomes as people age.  As we age from our 20s into our 60s, we typically lose about 85% of our ability to make nitric oxide.  Fortunately, there are things we can to return to normal blood pressure, good circulation & proper nitric oxide signaling throughout the body. These things are of intense interest to researchers around the world – there are over 180,000 published scientific papers on nitric oxide & the nitrogen cycle that produces it - & medical researchers & holistic doctors & dentists are keenly interested.

Nitric oxide has a fleeting presence in many parts of the body where it typically has a half-life of less than a second. But a key nutrient that gives us our supply is nitrate, which is found in beets, kale, arugula & many other vegetables & fruits; its usefulness depends on a person's ability to convert it into nitrite, which is then converted in a properly acidic stomach to the nitric oxide. There the nitric oxide helps assure healthy stomach function & it moves into the blood stream where it dilates blood vessels, reduces platelet stickiness, & helps the immune system fight off pathogens. It helps in the proper blood supply to & operation of every major organ - the heart, kidneys, liver & others. The body is so appreciative of the nitrogen cycle that some of the nitric oxide in the stomach is converted back into nitrite or nitrate & is recycled back into the mouth's saliva to give the friendly bacteria that should be there to again convert the nitrate to nitrite & keep the cycle going on track.  Sadly, if the beneficial bacteria have been killed by the oral hygiene mistakes – alcohol based mouthwashes or fluoride toothpastes being most common mistakes – the patient may stay mired in one or more very common chronic health problems: high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction, atherosclerosis & heart disease, diabetes, kidney problems & dementia.

In addition to avoiding fluoride toothpastes & alcohol-based mouthwashes, Nathan Bryan points to long term use of antibiotics, as another medical practice that will wipe out the needed bacteria in the mouth.  Realize that antibiotics kill bacteria throughout the body that includes many beneficial bacteria.  Long term use of antacids & proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) also play havoc with the nitrogen cycle because the stomach lacks the proper acidity needed to convert the nitrite compounds into nitric oxide, leading to a loss of nitric oxide signalling, which is a key to our natural health.

To sum up, in addition to eating healthy vegetables, getting moderate exercise & sunlight, we need to avoid some common daily mistakesnamely 1) Long term use of antacids & proton pump inhibitors, 2) Regular use of alcohol based mouthwashes, & 3) Regular use of fluoride toothpastes. These rules, based on the newest scientific research, should lead to a new era of health that is achieved without drugs or other medical interventions.
