F.A.N. Newsletter
Today, December 10, is Human Rights Day. It commemorates the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Unlike all other water treatment processes, fluoridation does not treat the water itself, but the person consuming it. It's not surprising that the strongest argument for most against fluoridation is that it violates the individual's right to informed consent to medical treatment. Choice and health freedom are human rights. No government (local, state or federal) should have the ability to add chemicals to the drinking water designed to deliver a daily uncontrolled dose to all citizens regardless of size, age, or medical history over a lifetime without oversight or health monitoring. Every doctor and dentist should know this but few seem to care.
The practice also sets a dangerous precedent, as some in the public health community have studied and considered adding other treatments to the public water supply such as lithium for depression, statins for heart disease, and others.
Most European countries recognize this human right. Only a minority of countries do not, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, the US and a handful of others. With your help in 2020 we will continue to challenge the right of these countries to arrogantly abuse our human rights on a daily basis.
