Hello Bill...I learn that water companies operate under the instruction of local health authorities. (I live in Sandwell one of the fluoridated areas.) Have you any info/links on the constitution of health authorities please mate ? How they makes decisions...vote...composition etc etc
Hello Simon It's councils that have the power to ask for fluoridation. Previously the Strategic Health Authority had the power. When we defeated the attempt to fluoridate Southampton we had to fight the SHA. They were then all abolished in 2013 and replaced by NHS England. There is a mechanism to reject fluoridation but it has to be the council.
I've put a FOI request via the What Do They Know website: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/fluoridation_in_sandwell?nocache=incoming-1430714#incoming-1430714
