  • Bill, We are both sad to learn that you had a stroke. But if it took only five days until you were released, that's a very encouraging sign. You should be able to take up your blog again without any problems. If you have any residual damage, the most important thing is that you keep challenging your mind to learn to do all the things that you did before the stroke. The brain is an amazing organ, it has a lot of extra capacity that we really should not neglect. So if you do have any permanently loss, you can use the undamaged parts to take over any lost function, get it to train itself to relearn. It really can replace a great deal of damage, it just takes persistence!

It's not just us saying this - at the opening of the 2012 Summer Paralympics Stephen Hawking told the athletes, “However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at…” And he's a real Expert on that! So get back 'on the job' and make it all work again – the saying “Use it or lose it!” is absolutely correct.
We're rootin' for you, Mate! You can do it.
    Our best wishes,
    Doug and Liz @UKCAF.
