CaF2 not suitable for fluoridiation - low solubility and contaminants if unprocessed. Most commonly fluorosilicic acid is used - very pure.
What? It has containment's such as lead and arsenic!
In the U.S., about 40,000 tons of fluorosilicic acid is recovered from phosphoric acid plants, and then used primarily in water fluoridation.
