Without a doubt, the efforts of the professionals at both the state and national levels, not to mention their financial support, allowed the city of Rutland, Vermont, to remain fluoridated and healthy ("Vermont City Favors Fluoridation," March 21 ADA News).

If there was ever a question of members as to whether their annual dues are well spent, the efforts on this fluoridation campaign speak for themselves. As Rutland dentists, we must all be grateful for the support we have received in keeping our community healthy.

I would also like to acknowledge in the kudos the support from dentists outside of Rutland, from around the state (and out of state) who took the time to weigh in their support with letters to the editor and appearances on local and state TV. I am very proud to be part of this great profession.

Thank you very much for helping us help our community and our patients.
