USA Newport - Problems with Fluoride

Problems with Fluoride

To the Editor:
I’d like to applaud Mr. Kyle Hence for his letter to the editor and his plea to the City of Newportcouncilors to stop fluoridation in our drinking water (“Stop Adding Fluoride,” March 3).
Fluoride (fluorosilicic acid, or sodium fluorosilicate) is derived from pollution-scrubbing operations in phosphoric acid production. The pollution scrubber liquid contains chloride, amines, diesel fuel, kerosene, sulfides, arsenic, lead, aluminum and uranium 238. Not fit for a landfill.
Fluoride is associated with cognitive problems and also thyroid disorders, bone issues, and cancers.
Keep in mind that there is no significant proof that ingesting fluoride stops tooth decay; fluoride only prevents tooth decay when applied directly to the teeth.
Many people no longer drink Newport’s water. Unfortunately, our largest organ, being our skin, still allows toxins to get in our bodies. The only way we can negate the fluoride in our house water is through reverse osmosis.
If the City of Newport councilors would research why all of Europe has banned fluoride in their water, then perhaps Mr. Hence’s plea would come to fruition.
