“Trust us, We’re Experts!” More on the fluoride saga

I don’t know if you’ve been to a city council meeting, but the audience is much larger, with more people for-and-against fluoride. We’ve had some ringers from out-of-town (like Dr. Bill Osmundson, DDS, MPH, a speaker who tours on behalf of the Fluoride Action Network. Likable guy, only I didn’t like that he misrepresented himself as being from Neah Bay, or Forks, or whatever). We have the local dentists show up en mass and parrot the stance of the American Dental Association.
First, it is bothersome that the dentists have swallowed this hook-line-and-sinker, and are using tactics right out of the playbook on how to oppose the anti-fluoride lobby. These tactics: call it pseudo-science, repeat the interest in health, talk about children (because puppies and kittens aren’t relevant in this argument), push “saving the children” as an emotional issue, and lastly, promote that “experts” are those that know best......

.............The questions residents of Port Angeles should be asking: Why the hard push to keep fluoride in OUR water? How is the city benefiting?
I find it curious that when Detroit, Michigan filed for bankruptcy, and they cut every service possible, except adding fluoride to the water supply. (Source: http://www.infowars.com/bankrupt-detroit-still-paying-for-fluoride-even-during-water-shut-down/) This was when the city was shutting OFF water to up to 3000 homes every week, because they couldn’t afford to provide services.
“In Detroit, after becoming the largest American city to file for bankruptcy, there is a move to quickly begin water shut-off to “protect the city’s budget.” Yet there is still money to be found by the city to purchase hydrofluorosilicic acid (fluoride) from private companies to add to the water supply. In fact, it is mandated, by Detroit city ordinance:...................................

I know this article refers to the situation in the US. But my concern at present is the current initiative happening in parts of Scotland called Childsmile Core.
I am trying to raise awareness of this anywhere I can because there is something very wrong happening here.
I became aware of it through my grandson's nursery. Children are given fluoride varnishes to their teeth every six months for (I think) two years. I wrote to pull permission for this to be done to my grandson (I have care of him). I was even more horrified to find the misinformation and disinformation on their website. No warnings about fluoride are given in the section directed at parents and carers.
The only mention at all is in the section for professionals, and that is a mild reference to dental fluorosis, nothing else. Furthermore, that reference comes immediately after a the initial sentence which states that fluoride is a very safe substance to use!
Together with the fluoride varnishes, children are supplied with tubes of fluoride toothpaste. This toothpaste isn't available in stores but is available through other healthcare professionals such as health visitors.
The address of the company stated on the toothpaste tube leads to a small property address in england, not a manufacturing plant. Where is this toothpaste from, who manufactures it and why is it not one available in stores? I contacted the company, who initially assumed I was wishing to purchase the stuff. I again wrote asking for details. (The only information given on their packaging is the company name and a website address.) The only information I was given is that it was manufactured in the EU to their requirements. Why so vague?
Also, at the time of the varnishes, the nursery was warning parents not to have the varnish repeated at their dentist, yet the website claims that it is perfectly safe to repeat it. Who told the nursery to warn parents? The notification letter given out to parents asks for details of hospital stays or allergies the child has, but again, doesn't tell parents why this information is important.
This move to give young children fluoride varnishes is based (according to the website) on a review of clinical trials. This review is based on 22 clinical trials conducted as far back as 1975. 15 of the trials were considered to be of high risk of bias, the remaining 7 considered to be of unknown risk. The trials they included for review includes ones where either the equipment or the varnish itself were provided by the manufacturer, and one trial was included that had been financed by the manufacturer. Yet their data is used to support this Childsmile Core programme!
The review conclusion pointed out that the data was of moderate quality because of the bias risks in most of the trials. This was ignored in the professional information on the Childsmile website, which provided a shortened version of the conclusion, omitting this statement altogether.
With all the known health risks posed by fluoride and the increasing movement against it's use, why was this programme implemented? We all know that fluoride suppresses brain function as well. Is this again a movement to subdue the masses? Scotland currently does not have fluoridated water. Is this how they're going to introduce it? By claiming this programme benefited the children?
