High levels of tooth decay among children in Hull

Rotting teeth

Nearly 600 children in East Yorkshire have had rotting teeth removed under general anaesthetic in the last year according to a new report. The Teeth Team report revealed that children as young as two-years-old had undergone multiple extractions because of tooth decay. The team is now calling for the introduction of fluoride varnish for children aged three to 11 to be included in plans to improve oral health in Hull. More than 43% of five-year-olds in Hull have tooth decay compared with the national average of 27.9 per cent.
